Stacey Putka and the organization Defy Ventures Colorado are committed to giving people with criminal histories a chance at redemption through entrepreneurship and employment readiness education. This talk challenges perceptions of people with criminal histories and asks us to all take part in being the solution to mass incarceration.
Stacey Putka is a fierce believer in challenging perceptions and the power of transformation. Growing up in an entrepreneurial household, with a father who took full advantage of his second chance in life after recovering from addiction, Stacey is inspired to facilitate transformation in the lives of others. As a Defy Ventures Colorado (DVC) founding member and current Program Director Stacey spearheads Defy’s teaching and coaching philosophy, curriculum development, marketing, and community relations. Prior to DVC Stacey worked as a mental health and substance abuse therapist, social worker, and group living counselor with various organizations. Stacey received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Colorado State University and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver.
