Don Whittemore

Don Whittemore is the Assistant Chief of the Rocky Mountain Fire department, a nationally known speaker on fire and disaster incident response, and is the lead subject matter expert for the national curriculum on wildland fire behavior and regular instructor of incident management and leadership courses.

Mr. Whittemore has been an innovational thinker in organizational management for the past twenty-five years. He holds a Masters degree from Yale University, School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

For the past decade, Mr. Whittemore has been actively engaged in public speaking and developing and leading classes on the topics of fire behavior, incident management, leadership, and decision-making. He was the lead subject matter expert for the most recent rewrite of the national curriculum on wildland fire behavior and a reviewer and alpha-class lead instructor on the fire behavior calculations course for the National Wildfire Coordinating Group.
