Katie Breen is the founder and host of The Femtastic Podcast, a show that explores issues of women’s health, reproductive justice, gender disparity, and empowerment. In the fall, she will begin a master’s of public health at Harvard University’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where she will focus her studies on the impact that race, socioeconomic class, and gender identity have on reproductive health outcomes for American women. She is particularly interested in increasing access to and affordability of comprehensive reproductive health services in the United States – particularly for African American women, who are three to four times more likely than white women to die from complications related to pregnancy. A veteran of advertising agencies (having worked on the creative strategy for brands like American Express and L’Oreal) and Boulder startups (Shinesty and Green Chef), she will use her digital marketing expertise and entrepreneurial drive to bring public health programs into the 21st century.
