Dave Krieger has been a Colorado journalist since 1981. He joined the Rocky Mountain News that year as a City Hall reporter and covered the 1983 race for Denver mayor in which Federico Peña upset favorites Bill McNichols, the three-term incumbent, and Dale Tooley, the longtime district attorney, by covering the city with yard signs that urged a new generation of Coloradans to “Imagine a Great City.”

Krieger then took a quick 30-year detour into the nomadic life of a sportswriter, covering the Broncos, Nuggets, and four Olympic Games. Ultimately, he earned his own column, which he authored until the day the 150-year-old Rocky closed its doors in February 2009. His column appeared in the Denver Post the day after the Rocky closed and was published there through January 2012. From there he moved to KOA radio, where he teamed with Dave Logan to form the afternoon drive tandem until June 2014.

In November 2014, Krieger was named editorial page editor of the Boulder Daily Camera, a position he held until he was fired April 25 of this year for self-publishing an editorial spiked by the paper’s publisher that criticized the Camera’s private equity ownership for systematically draining cash from the paper in a premeditated attempt to bleed it dry.

Krieger is currently unemployed.
